Maine Craft Artist Award 2025

October 19, 2025

It is with great pleasure and joy that I share this news ~~

I have been selected to receive the 2025 MAINE CRAFT ARTIST AWARD

I share this award with the amazing Gabriel Frey, Passamaquoddy artist and 13th generation black ash basket maker.

Since 2009, the Maine Crafts Association has celebrated the exceptional contributions of craft artists through the Maine Craft Artist Award. This annual honor recognizes artists for an outstanding body of work and a distinguished career of service to Maine’s craft community. The award signifies excellence and brings well-deserved prestige and acknowledgment to the artist’s achievements.

Annual Awards Presentation & Ceremony
Saturday, November 1.
Center for Maine Contemporary Art | 21 Winter St. Rockland, ME
Doors open at 5:30 PM | Presentation to start at 6:00 PM.

The event will include speakers on behalf of the artists, the awards tradition of gifting a handmade pin that reflects the honorees to the recipients, and words from MCA’s leadership.

The public, friends, and supporters of both honorees are welcome to register for and attend the presentation to celebrate the recipients.

In an increasingly chaotic and unpredictable world, I long to create a sense of order -- even if it is only in my studio with thread.

Metaphors aside, the simple act of untangling a web of indigo dyed, linen and cotton threads has a profound and cal

to love what is mortal
to hold it
