In the fall of 2022, I spent two weeks on Monhegan, my annual retreat.

I brought along a large ball of heavy, madder dyed, cotton yarn and posed it in several locations. I also crocheted it into several smaller spheres and photographed these in a variety of locations.

In the instances where the yarn is crocheted into a bright red ball there's something about this that tugs at my heart - the pop of color, the singularity and isolation speak to me. It is also resonant of my larger woven works such as “The Space Between” with a single red figure suspended in space.
