The circular movement in this piece echoes the rhythm of the tides—pulling in and out, endlessly circling. Named for Salacia, the Roman goddess of the sea and wife of Neptune, it draws on her connection to the calm, shimmering surface of the open ocean, as well as to femininity and the tides. As a year-round swimmer, I feel closely connected to these cycles. The ocean is never still; it is constantly shifting, reshaping itself. We are no different—always moving, changing, and becoming.
