Woven Voices: June 2009 Update
An interactive global art project inspired by Tibetan prayer flags, Shinto paper prayers, and the Buddhist concept of impermanence.
I launched this project on December 29, 2007. Since that time I have received over one thousand paper, cloth and ribbon messages from as far away as Italy, Spain, Iraq, Texas, California and Florida.
The "Woven Voices: Messages from the Heart" project continues to grow and to captivate the attention of many individuals and communities. I read the gathered messages out loud in a public location in order to release the spoken message to the universe. Volunteer weavers join me a few days a month to weave the prayer flags. All are welcome to help read messages and weave prayer flogs. To contribute: please send positive messages of hope and renewal, dreams, wishes or prayers written on paper of any size, color and weight. Cloth strips or ribbon are fine too. These messages will be read aloud in a public place and then cut into strips and woven into brightly colored prayer flags. As the flags are completed, I will send them back out to those who send me messages. These colorful hand woven flags will be hung outside in communities around the world to fade, unravel and release the messages of hope, peace and renewal.
All are welcome to join me to read and weave!
As the flags are completed, I continue to send them back out to the world. See the Woven Voices blog to read the latest news.
Namaste, Sarah
