Sarah Haskell: Profile
What's Now, May 2005

Welcome to my Web site. This is the place to come for the latest news on my art and educator activities. Please look around, let me know what you think, and come again! And don't forget to check out the button project update , my calendar and the newest additions to the gallery.

Spring has arrived in a slow, delicious manner. It's Mother's Day, the daffodils still bloom, the maple trees have that pink glow, and the stream across the road is swollen from continuous days of rain. I have had a very busy winter -- full of new art, exhibits, travels and residencies.

Sarah at La Jolla, CA

Please be sure to check out the gallery for new works which were inspired by the devastation of the last December's tsunami, the recent discovery of an ivory billed woodpecker, and continuing prayers for the world. This winter I also completed the remaining five pieces for the Kaddish series.

Also this winter, I have had the good fortune to have three articles written about my work. You can find these articles in:

In March I flew out to San Diego to attend the opening of my show at La Jolla FiberArts Gallery. I had a wonderful ten days out there, participating in the Southern CA Weavers Conference and meeting many wonderful weavers and fiber enthusiasts. I rented a car and explored the area around Escondido, La Jolla and San Diego. I made new friends and visited old friends and family.

Sarah in Ireland

This April, I traveled to Ireland with my children. We visited family, saw ancient castles and forts, hiked the cliffs of Mohr, enjoyed Guinness and ate scrumptious cheeses. Some of my favorite memories are of the many sheep that graze the stone-walled green pastures. This picture was taken while we were in Dingle.

Now back to work in the studio! Current projects include a pair of new screen art pieces that will be in the Channel Islands exhibit this early summer. Watch for these works to appear on my website later this spring.

And please check out my calendar for current and future exhibits, residencies and workshops.

I hope the beauty of this earth brings you joy.

Peace,
Sarah
