Welcome to my website. This is the place to come for the latest news on my art and educator activities. Please look around, let me know what you think, and come again! And don't forget to check out the button project update, my calendar and the newest additions to the gallery.
Here it is mid-April. The winter has been longer than anyone can remember. A small mound of snow still lingers outside my studio window. Certainly today it will disappear as the temperatures are predicted to rise into the 60s! This winter I had the amazing opportunity to travel to southern India. This trip was a pilgrimage that included ten days at an ashram, many visits to Hindu temples, chanting, yoga and meditation. This photo is detail of a building and fence at an all female ashram and shows the typical colors of Southern India.
At the end of this part of the trip, my sister and I spent 4 days in Northern in India, around and in Delhi. This is a photo of me with a snake charmer!
Since my return in early February I have been very busy with teaching. My work brought me to schools in Boston (Kingsbury Montessori School), Rye NH (Elementary) and S. Portland, ME (Kaler and Dyer Elementary Schools). My upcoming jobs include work with two local hospitals (Frisbee Memorial in Rochester, NH and Concord Hospital in Concord, NH) and a retirement community in Concord, NH. Photos of these community art projects will be posted soon!
"Woven Voices: Messages from the Heart" the international prayer flag project that I launched in late 2007 is gaining momentum. I have gathered over 600 messages from as far away as Italy, Spain, California, Texas and Florida. Because the response to this project is so amazing, I am working slowly to catalogue and voice record all the beautiful messages of hope and renewal. Please visit the "Woven Voices" section of my website to learn more about this project.
Please check out my gallery and send me a note with your thoughts about my work. I appreciate hearing from you!
And please check out my calendar for current and future exhibits, residencies and workshops.
As ever, thank you for your interest and support of my artwork and teaching. I hope the beauty of this earth brings you joy.
Peace to all in this season of light and love,
Sarah
