Commenced in 2006, the five pieces in this series share a common warp of red and black hand-dyed linen threads. The first two works were inspired by the devastating effects of Hurricane Katrina in the late summer of 2005. The next piece from this warp is "Feeding the Heart", a work inspired by architecture, the hands that built it and the people who inhabited the house. The final two pieces "Beyond Home" and "Grounded: Roots and Refuge" reference the concept of safety, home, and the ability to extend beyond one's "comfort-zone".
