In 1998, I received a collaborative grant to write and weave on the theme "Lies and Dreams, Conversations with our Mothers." I collaborated with poet Mimi White to create parallel bodies of work in poetry and weaving about our own mothers. To begin writing, I used the photographs to trigger my memory, and ultimately the photographs migrated into the visual art works. These photographs contain images of me with many of the women in my family. I found myself creating a visual map exploring the patterns of women's lives in my family.
