In the winter of 2000 during a 20 day residency, I taught the whole school how to weave simple projects on small individual looms. From there, the 4th and 5th grade students designed and wove 6 tapestries that were based on oral history and presentations by local historical groups. These weavings told the story of Salem's progress through history as reflected in the farming life, recreational landmarks and the history of the town's schools.
