Button Project Update: July, 2002
The last button was sewn at 5:30 on June 14th. Those who were here to witness the last button honored the time and effort that we all spent hunched over the buttons in communion.
Thank you to all those who helped sew buttons, who donated buttons and who were there in spirit for me over the past eight months. This has been a long project.
With a bit more luck I did get it hemmed, photographed and delivered to the Currier Gallery of Art by Wednesday June 19th. I am in constant awe of the magic of this project, which I have called "Each One".
The Currier Gallery of Art (Manchester, NH) opening is July 18th at 5:30. I hope to see you there. The exhibit titled "Uncommon Threads" will be up until September 7th. On September 11th the Button Project will be at the UNH Art Gallery for a month. I will be giving an artist's talk on September 11th at noon about the project, and my artistic response to 9/11.
Peace be with all of you. And thank you for your help.
Sarah
