Button Project Update: February 28, 2002
Here I sit on the edge of March, with a full moon and high rolling tides. In recent weeks my busy teaching schedule has kept me from my studio work, but March promises to restore balance with more windows of time for weaving.
The button project continues to take shape. I have wound the warps - a slow process due to the many changes of warp ends - and now the fibers are ready for the dye pot. I continue to be amazed and moved by the support and encouragement I receive on a daily basis. Buttons are still coming to my door in a slow trickle.
Many of you have expressed interest in helping me sew the buttons onto the finished woven cloth. Thus, I have designed the piece so that it will be easy for people to help me do this. I will post this part of the project as I near that stage.
The images that you see here are my woven fabric sample and the design for the full scale piece.
Thanks again to all of you who have sent me buttons and notes of good will.
